It is a joy to share that Bishop Héctor A. Burgos-Núñez has appointed Pastor Katrina Cappotelli as the new pastor of our congregation. Pastor Katrina will begin her new responsibilities on July 1st. Pastor Katrina will be serving three churches in this full-time appointment: Macedon Center, South Perinton, and Victor First UMCs. So we will be working side by side with our sister churches as we live into this new way of being in ministry. In our meeting with all three SPRC teams, District Superintendent Richelle Goff, and Pastor Katrina, we created a rotating worship schedule for the summer. We are giving this model a try for the summer and will revisit this plan in early September. We hope and pray that you will join us in this new adventure.

Our new pastor will work with us and the conference so that we continue to nurture disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Bishop Burgos-Núñez, our district superintendent, and the Upper New York Conference leaders will work with us to continue growing as a congregation. I know you will join our bishop, our new pastor, and me in helping to make new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Katrina Cappotelli is a sixth-generation clergy person. She hails from Western New York as she was born in Buffalo, was raised in Rochester, and has been serving churches in Livingston, Wyoming, and Steuben Counties. She is recently married to her husband Todd, who works for the Brockport Central School district. She is the proud mother to John (11) and June (9) Thompson and Milo (11) Cappotelli. The family makes their home in Greece, NY. Katrina brings a love of liturgy and music to her ministry and is enthusiastic about sharing the Gospel with everyone she meets. In her spare time, she writes songs and tends her garden. Katrina is currently serving Victor First and E. Bloomfield UMCs.

You may be wondering what the rotating worship schedule means and we will be ironing all that out in meetings soon. While Pastor Katrina’s appointment officially starts on July 1, she has scheduled vacation the first week of July that was planned before she knew her appointment would be changing. Therefore, each of the three churches will be individually arranging the service coverage for that week. The rotation schedule will start the following weekend, on July 12th, when Katrina is back from vacation. Because of a previously planned baptism at Victor UMC, Pastor Katrina will be preaching at Victor that Sunday, which will start the three-church rotation. July 19th will be at Macedon Center, and the following week, July 26th, will be at South Perinton. August 2nd will be at Victor, so on and so forth. We’ll plan out which church Pastor Katrina will preach at each week in upcoming worship team meetings and will circulate that schedule as soon as we know it. Services will likely be at 10 am.

On the Sundays when Katrina is not at your “home” church we are all encouraged to attend in person at the host church. However, non-host churches will open their doors still and livestream the service from the host church. More details soon.

I invite all of the congregation to pray for the incoming pastor and welcome her during this transition. Please continue to have grace and patience as we work through this transition that is a bit unusual.
