On Sunday January 27th, we voted to become a Reconciling Congregation!
This explicit welcome is necessary because our United Methodist Church holds official policies that exclude LGBTQ people from the full life of the Church. With this vote we show the world who we are – a congregation that welcome’s ALL God’s children to worship in love and equality.
MACEDON CENTER UMC WELCOMING STATEMENT
Following Christ’s command to love one another and our own vision to be a place where ALL people are fed and God’s love shines, Macedon Center United Methodist Church recognizes that ALL people are of sacred worth, as we seek to be a fully inclusive church. As we journey toward reconciliation, we proclaim this welcome to ALL God’s people, especially those who have known the pain of exclusion and discrimination in the church and in society. We do not seek to erase our differences, but to journey together in faith toward greater understanding and mutual respect.
Jesus said let the children come to me and do not hinder them. In that light, celebrating the diversity of God’s creation, we respect and welcome ALL God’s children – young and old, rich and poor. We invite God’s children of all ethnic, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds. We share God’s love with God’s children of all genders, mental & physical abilities and marital status. We open the doors of the church to God’s children of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. We open our hearts to families of any structure or immigration status. With open hearts, open minds, and open doors, we share God’s love with the world.
To that end, Macedon Center United Methodist Church commits to the reconciliation of ALL persons as children of God and affirms that we are a Reconciling Community.
