MACEDON CENTER UMC RECONCILING STATEMENT
Following Christ’s command to love one another and our own vision to be a place where ALL people are fed and God’s love shines, Macedon Center United Methodist Church recognizes that ALL people are of sacred worth, as we seek to be a fully inclusive church. As we journey forward together, we proclaim this welcome to ALL God’s people, especially those who have known the pain of exclusion and discrimination in the church and in society. We do not seek to erase our differences, but to journey together in faith toward greater understanding and mutual respect.
Jesus said let the children come to me and do not hinder them. In that light, we celebrate God’s gift of diversity and value the wholeness made possible in community equally shared and shepherded by all. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation, who are also of every age, race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, level of education, and family structure, and of every economic, immigration, marital, and social status, and so much more. We acknowledge that we live in a world of profound social, economic, and political inequities. As followers of Jesus, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed. With open hearts, open minds, and open doors, we share God’s love with the world.
To that end, Macedon Center United Methodist Church commits to the reconciliation of ALL persons as children of God and affirms that we are a Reconciling Community.
